Georgian Finance Minister Valerie Chechelashvili left for Turkey to attend the 38th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Istanbul on May 5-6.

The Georgian Finance Ministry reported on May 4 that Georgia has already officially applied for its membership in ADB.

“Georgia finds very important to establish close cooperation with the Asian Development Bank. This is one more step towards attraction of foreign investments to Georgia,” Valerie Chechelashvili told reporters before departure.

ADB is a multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. Established in 1966 with headquarters in Manila, ADB is now owned by 63 members.
