President Saakashvili has again criticized Giorgi Godabrelidze, Chairman of the Customs Department, for, as the President put it, his failure to curb corruption in the customs sphere.

“I was not satisfied with the activities of the new chairman, since he failed to eradicate corruption in the Customs Department,” President Saakashvili told reporters on October 11.

The Georgian media has already speculated that the customs chief will soon file his resignation.

On August 8 Saakashvili expressed his discontent with the work of the Customs Department and required the customs chief to allocate at least 15-20 million Lari within a month. Otherwise, Saakashvili threatened to dismiss Giorgi Godabrelidze.
