Lavrov: Saakashvili is 'Pathology and Anomaly'
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 8 Aug.'11 / 19:43

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said that Russia was ready to develop contacts with Georgia, but not with President Saakashvili, whom he described as “pathology and anomaly against the background of the entire Georgian people".

He also said that Saakashvili "is clearly very badly brought up" person.

“As [Russian] President [Dmitry] Medvedev has said, we do not associate the Georgian people with this person,” he said at a joint briefing with his Korean counterpart in Moscow. “We are ready, excluding Mikheil Saakashvili, to develop contacts [with Georgia] – business, pragmatic, mutually beneficial [contacts] in absolutely various spheres.”

Lavrov said that President Saakashvili, who “issued a criminal order” in August 2008, was inventing “new fairy tales in a spirit of aggressive propaganda” about the war.

“I can assure you that even those states, whose representatives officially and constantly talk about the necessity of respecting the territorial integrity of Georgia and show public sympathy towards the present regime, in private conversations they show very well their knowledge of the matter," Lavrov said adding that such supportive statements are made just because of "political expediency."
