Abkhaz War Veterans Union Supports Ankvab in Election

An influential Abkhaz war veterans union, Amtsakhara, said it would support Alexander Ankvab in the August 26 presidential election, Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported on August 3.

Ankvab, who is an acting president of the breakaway region, is also supported by the ruling party United Abkhazia.

PM of the breakaway region Sergey Shamba and former vice president Raul Khajimba are two other candidates running in the election.
