Okruashvili: 'I will be in Georgia on May 25'
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 22 May.'11 / 13:35

Ex-defense minister and co-founder of the Georgian Party, Irakli Okruashvili, said on Sunday he will be in Georgia on May 25 “to put an end to the Saakashvili’s regime.”

“I promise, that May 25 will be the last day for this government; on May 25 together with my friends I am returning back to Georgia to put an end to this regime once and forever… There is no need to go into details now,” Okruashvili told the Tbilisi-based Maestro TV in a brief interview via phone.

Since 2007, when he went into opposition, Okruashvili lives in France, where he has received political asylum; in Georgia he was sentenced to 11-year prison term in absentia in March, 2008.

Okruashvili’s statement was made after the chairman of the Georgian Party, Sozar Subari, announced about joining to the ongoing protest rally, organized by the People’s Assembly. He said that “decisive struggle for the regime change” would start on May 25, which, he said, should be turned into the “Day of Rage of the Georgian people.”
