Inflation Accelerates to 13.7%

Georgia’s annual inflation rose to 13.7% in February from 12.3% in January, mainly pushed by food and transport costs, the Georgian state statistics office, Geostat, said on Friday.
 
Prices on food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 28.4% year-on-year and 6% month-on-month in February. Share of food in total annual inflation in February was 11.7%, according to Geostat.

Fuel prices went up by 5.2% in February m/m; prices on alcohol beverages and tobacco saw 9.6% y/y increase.

There was 7% y/y decrease in prices for communications services in February, according to Geostat.
