Changes Among Rustavi 2 TV Shareholders
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 12 Nov.'08 / 18:43

Irakli Chikovani, general director of the Rustavi 2 TV, has become owner of 30% of the television station’s shares, according to the notification sent by the TV company to the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC).

According to the notification, dated with November 7, offshore company GeoMedia Group’s shares into the television station have been decreased from 55% to 40% and the Georgian Industrial Group’s (GIG) shares from 45% to 30% as a result of the changes.

Erosi Kitsmarishvili, the Saakashvili administration former insider, who is a founder and a former owner of Rustavi 2 TV, said on November 7 that a part of shares into the television station was formally transferred to its current general director, Irakli Chikovani, a week ago. Before that, he has claimed, President Saakashvili held bearer share certificate of the offshore company, which owned 55% of Rustavi 2 TV.
