Georgia Says Russian Jet Bombed Kareli

Three SU-24 Fencer attack aircraft breeched Georgian airspace on August 8 and one of them dropped two bombs close to a police station in Kareli, the Georgian Interior Ministry said in a brief statement posted on its website.

“Several people were slightly injured,” Shota Utiashvili, the Interior Ministry spokesman, told Civil.Ge.

Kareli is outside South Ossetia. The Kareli district borders with the breakaway region.
