The chief of staff of the Russian armed forces, Gen. Yuri Baluevsky, dismissed Georgia’s allegations about Russian aircraft violating airspace over Kodori Gorge on August 21, saying they were the result of “hallucinations.”

“It looks like our Georgian colleagues are starting to suffer from hallucinations,” Baluevsky told Interfax news agency on August 23.

Georgia said its airspace had been violated twice over Tbilisi-controlled upper Kodori Gorge in Abkhazia.

The Georgian authorities have not specified whether it was a helicopter or a plane; they, however, said its flight speed was 470-490 km/h and flight height 4,000 meters. It, reportedly, flew five kilometers into Georgian airspace.
