Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh has called on the UN, the Russian Federation, and the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends to give their assistance in reaching an agreement with the Georgian authorities over the non-resumption of hostilities in breakaway Abkhazia, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

“The Abkhaz side calls on the UN, the Russian Federation as a mediating party, and the Group of Friends to demand that the Georgian side launch an immediate withdrawal of armed forces from Kodori Gorge; to secure free and unobstructed patrolling by CIS Peacekeeping Forces and the UN military observers; to call on Georgia to sign a document on the non-resumption of hostilities and security guarantees; and to admit that Georgia’s refusal to sign this document will confirm its aggressive intentions regarding Abkhazia,” Bagapsh said.
