Survey Says Biggest Surge in Arms Spending in Georgia

Georgia increased its arms spending by 143% - up to USD 146 million - in 2005, which is the biggest increase worldwide, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said in its latest yearbook, Reuters reported on June 12.

The research institute noted arms spending increase in other two countries of the South Caucasus: Azerbaijan - 51% and Armenia - 23%.
