Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 2 Aug.'05 / 13:59
Share/Save/Bookmark

On August 1 the Georgian side sent a cargo of construction materials, wheat and other food products to Abkhazia. The shipment was seized from a Turkish vessel by the Georgian Coast Guard in early June.

The vessel and its crew were detained for illegally entering the Abkhaz section of the Georgian maritime borders.

The Abkhaz side, which described this incident as “piracy,” refused to participate in talks with the Georgian side before the return of cargo, reportedly worth of USD 300,000.
